McRail RMC Constructions delivers major groundworks and enabling works for Google UK Headquarters at King’s Cross.
McRail RMC Constructions delivered extensive groundwork and bulk excavation works for the Google development at King’s Cross, providing high-quality civil engineering and site preparation services. Completed with a focus on safety, precision, and excellence, our work supported the successful delivery of this landmark project.
Appointed by Byrne Bros to undertake major groundworks and enabling operations, McRail successfully delivered the excavation and removal of approximately 50,000m³ of material, pile breaking, installation of drainage and service infrastructure, and demolition of existing buttress structures. These works were carried out within a complex and tightly constrained urban environment, demonstrating our ability to manage logistics, safety, and programme demands on large-scale city- centre schemes.
The development itself is a distinctive 11-storey “landscraper” extending approximately 330 metres in length and providing over 861,000 sq ft of office space. Designed to accommodate around 7,000 employees, it represents the first Google building outside the United States.
McRail’s contribution ensured the site was efficiently prepared for subsequent construction phases, reinforcing our reputation for delivering reliable, high-quality groundworks solutions on complex and prestigious developments across the UK.
